How to wear: Circle/Skater skirts!

16:39

Circle skirts/ skater skirts are one of my favourite fashion staples. For me, having a curvier figure I find these types of skirts very form flattering, but they also work very well for almost all body types.  If you're confident in your body, a tighter fitting top or a crop top will suit perfectly, but if you're a bit more insecure or prefer a bit more 'coverage' a loose flowy top tucked into the skirt is another amazing look.

Here are just a few different ways you can style your circle skirt:
Of course, for all of these outfits you can switch clothing pieces for ones you already have in your wardrobe, or for more affordable alternatives :)

1: Formal

A monochrome outfit with gold or silver jewelry is a perfect 'formal' combination - black and white make you look 'grown up' and I see gold and silver jewelry as almost sophisticated. Sticking to a simple colour scheme will make sure nothing will go wrong.

For this look, it would wear two different make up combinations; neutral eyes, liner and mascara with a bold red or bright pink lip or a nude/pink lip with gold smokey eyes.

Skirt: Topshop Black gathered circle skirt, £16
Top: Bardot Aria crop tank, AU$58
Necklace: Topshop oval heart link necklace, £12.50 - I LOVE how the chain links in this necklace are both ovals and heart shaped, it adds more interest to this look
Purse: YSL Saint Laurent Classic monogram clutch in Gold, US$1090
Heels: Kurt Geiger Nanette black suede shoes, £140

2: Casual Summer

I love this outfit - for me browns and yellows are a perfect colour combination for summer, and gold just fits into those hues perfectly. Summer clothes definitely need to be kept as light as possible to keep you cool, and crop tops are perfect as you can show more skin, but when paired with a higher waisted skirt, it's skin showing, but not too much.

For make up, it needs to be kept light, both in coverage and colour. Corals, pinks and oranges are the perfect colours for summer - go for neutral eyeshadows, mascara and a bit of eyeliner, and let the colour pop from either a bright lipstick or a 'bright' blusher - a bright colour, but applied not too heavily.

Top: Miss Selfridge short sleeve tee, £25
Skirt: Yumi direct floral lace skirt, £45
Shoes: ASOS Flightplan leather flat sandals, £22
Necklace: Piperlime Hive & Honey 2 row hexagon necklace, US$30 This necklace is sold out, but there are so many gold statement necklaces available
Bag: Oliver Bonas Piura Lazer cut saddle bag, £40

3: A night out

Heading out for a night out is all about looking and feeling good, but also being comfortable- all that dancing and walking about isn't always 'heel weather'. This outfit has a very purple hue but still looks fashionable. Wear your make up however you feel most comfortable- you're going out for the night, so you need to feel comfortable. I love the belly chain - it's a unique accessory that will draw peoples attention to you - and if you have a skinny waist or a killer figure you love - what better way to show it off!

Skirt: MSGM Metallic circle skirt, $413
Top: Finders keepers Winter Bird bra, NZD$118.94
Shoes: Purple Doc Martens
Bag: Tory Burch Adalyn Clutch, US$350
Also, for a touch of fun, a belly chain: ASOS Faux pearl belly chain, £8

4: Casual #2 / Concert

When you're off to a concert, you want to keep as cool and as cute as you can - a circle skirt is perfect as it's so loose you almost feel like you're not actually wearing it.   A baggy top tucked in will help keep you cool also, and flats will keep your feet from getting too sore.

At a concert, you don't want to wear too much make up, enough so you're confident but not too much so that it's runs off when you're sweating. Foundation, concealer, a whip of mascara and a lip colour/ lip gloss will be perfect.

Skirt: Body Central Solid scuba skater skirt, US$$12.98
Top: American Eagle Outfitters MTV Muscle tank tee, NZ$23.35 - of course, you don't have to wear an 'MTV' shirt - if you have a loose t shirt which you can tuck in to your skirt, it'll be perfect for this look
Shoes: Maroon low cut converse - if you have your own converse, no matter what colour or high top/ low top they will be perfect for this look
Bag: Body Central studded cross body bag, US$18.98 - of course, any other cross body bag will work

5: 'All from one store' - Cotton on

All parts of this outfit are from Cotton on or Rubi Shoes - both from the same brand.

I love all black. Nothing can beat an all black outfit, with a bit of colour from jewelry or a bright lipstick or eye shadow/liner. I chose flats as they're the most wearable, but you can dress this outfit up a bit more with some heels, or wear it with some strappy sandals in summer. I love the texture in this outfit - from the quilted top and the chain necklace with a 'dimpled' surface.

I chose Cotton on as its a convenient store to shop at for me, it's very affordable and has a great range of clothes. If you can't make it in store, they have affordable shipping which arrives quickly :)

Skirt - Jeanie Flippy skirt, AU$19.95 (2 for $30)
Top - CO Quilted body tee, AU$49.95
Necklace- Vivienne link necklace, AU$14.95
Shoes - Whiteley lace up vintage boot, AU$49.95
