How to wear: Tank tops!
15:46Tank tops may seem super simple, but they are also so versatile. They're perfect for outfits ranging from a lazy day at home to a fancy business meeting. They go well with so many different skirts, shorts and jeans, but also are perfect for layering.
Here are just a few outfit ideas on how to wear a tank top:
1- Dressy
A tank top is easily dressed up. Just because it has no sleeves, doesn't mean it can't be classy.
I love the simple colours in this outfit. Monochromatic clothes, with a pop of colour and glam from the jewelry.
With this outfit, I would wear a nail polish similar in colour to Forever 21's Tamed Turquoise (only US$2.80!). I would keep lips a pale pink/nude colour. For the eyes, I would keep eye shadow simple, using colours such as 'Bootycall' and 'Tease' from the Naked 2 palette. Add a thin line of black liner, and above that, a line of Khao San Road pencil liner by NARS.
Tank top: Topshop Textured gingham shell top, £34
Trousers: Vila PU Anie leggings, £30
Shoes: Jimmy Choo black suede & gold mirror leather 'FEY' platform sandals, £595 always got to splurge somewhere ;)
Rings: Pacsun Geo triangle 3 pack Midi rings, US$9.95
Necklace: JC Penney Mixit Gold mint 3d flower statment necklace, NZD$38
2- Casual
Not only are tank tops perfect for dressing up, but they're also perfect for a casual outfit in summer.
I LOVE the shoes in this - a unique way to add colour (and comfort) to the outfit. The shirt would be cute either worn tucked in, or over the top of the shorts.
For this look, I would wear gold and silver rings in an array of designs, both at the knuckle and midi rings. For nails, I would go for a pastel colour. For make up, I would keep it light and simple - light foundation, concealer, thin eyeliner, mascara and a sweep of something across the lips.
Tank top: JAWBREAKING cooler on the internet muscle tank, US$35
Bralette: Full tilt lace button bralette, NZD$19.60 Of course, a bralette is TOTALLY optional. If you're comfortable to wear just your bra and the top - rock the look. Equally, if you'd prefer a singlet or bralette underneath, go for it. Experiment with different colours too!
Shorts: MOTO brooke acid wach denim shorts, £28.00
Shoes: Vans Galaxy authentic Lo Pro shoe, US$55
Sunglasses: Monki Hope Sunglasses, £8
Hat: Black oversized fedora hat, £28
3- Winter work/casual
I think this outfit is perfect for work. It's dressy with the blazer and jeans, but the boots add a bit of fun. Of course, if floral boots are a big no for your workplace, switch them for black boots, heels or flats. Some people may think a tank top is an odd choice for winter, but when paired with a comfy jacket, you'll be kept nice and warm.
For make up for this look, I would keep it as simple as I could - yet still 'dressed up' enough for work. Neutral eyes, face, and a pop of colour on the lips. :)
Tank top: Alice + You light pink cami top, £14
Jeans: Moto black Joni jeans, £36
Jacket: Vero moda Luxe black blazer, £42
Bag: Saffiano effect tote bag, £50
Shoes: Doc Martens Page 8 eye Boot black, US$170
Necklace: Oliver Bonas silver cutout flower necklace, £35
4- Spring fling
This, to me, is the perfect outfit for spring/early summer. The pants add a bit of warmth to counteract to coolness gained from no sleeves. I LOVE the two statement pieces of jewelry.
Tank top: Aerie side lace swing tank, NZ$27
Pants: Mango printed flowy trousers, £34.99
Shoes: Athena Rinestone t-strap sandals, US$29
Necklace: John Lewis silver plated large stone necklace, £18
Bracelet: Black spike bracelet, £2.50
5-
I love the simplicity of this outfit - but the brightness of the accessories. The NARSissist palette is perfect for this look - you can do a neutral smokey eye, or incorporate the blue eye shadow to make it a blue toned smokey eye to compliment the clutch.
Tank top: Nelly Razor cropped top, £9.95
Pants: Olivia Disco pants by Jovonna, £40
Shoes: Black suede chunky shoe boots, £30
Clutch: Cobalt lock envelope clutch, £8
Necklace: Billie bauble trim necklace, NZ$22
